Completely uninstalled Parallels on Mac by going in as root and deleting every possible entry that I could find. Read doc beforehand but this was personal - Parallels did not give me technical support when I submitted crash reports which I did for around 1 year and continually updated as new parallels versions emerged. In system log Parallels was showing library collisions - how can these be good and why were they not fixed? Deleted old printer drivers too. Believe bad interaction with my usb which was a problem with my computer. The computer has stopped crashing for a few weeks now so the extermination of parallels may have solved my computer crashing. Disabled power management including putting the hard disk to sleep. Touch wood.

Installed rkhunter following Why Mac Security Matters: OS X Rootkit Hunter

Mac crashed after running Parallels after 30min work. Parallells has a nighmare crash. I have suspected the USB but I found Parallels interacting with Cannon printer drivers and together they are crashing the machine. In the Mac there is no OS supported cleanup when a program is removed. This is the only sane way to uninstall. TODO aquire application that records before and after with software installs and hence can uninstall.

As a practical solution do not use Parallells. Instead try Virtual Box by Sun. Its a full OS installation which is horrific but while I aggressively tried to clean up the MacOS from settings from the past only to find on reboot a crash and then I had to do a full flush (PR,then shift for safe mode, then reboot).

Power failure, wireless network down and config changes to adsl router lost because I did not save them to flash! Redo. Accidently deleted wireless config, had to redo then found SPI Firewall Protection blocking the internet. Turned SPI off - no choice.

Configured wireless
directly access WAP 10.0.0.1 in own private address, configure encryption WPA WPA2, verify with connecting devices have access, filter mac address, turn some logs on, hide SSID, ridiculous password.
[ This would not stop determined enemy - use vpn and only allow WAP client to connect to network through ssh/vnp only is likely more secure i.e. block WAP with router so if WAP compromised the network is not ]

Then the power adapter failed. Got incensed that the new router failed quality control WNR2000. Returned and got linksys which crashed my ip as it created the same subnet 192.168.1.x that its internet was comming from. Hence the E2000 is a piece of junk. The E2000 was also harder to configure than the WNR2000. I was tempted to just swap the model but saw an anti netgear utube video, stood up for my principles and got Linksys router. Slower speeds as a result, but perhaps more reliable? Linksys's restriction of private ip to 192.168.1 I do not understand and the ip conflict resolution is stupid. Was the router made stupid for the home market?

Restructured my network and let the E2000(wireless network) have the 192.168.1.x domain. I do not want to deal with Linksys's low cost router.
